FROM BROWN ROOFS TO BRIGHT NIGHTS. WHAT IBADAN LOOKS LIKE NOW!
IBADAN Kíni so?
For everyone who’s thinking about relocating to Ibadan or planning to visit, this is for you.
As a proper Ibadan babe, who literally grew up in the Brown Roof City and has spent over two decades here, I’ve seen Ibadan transform, and trust me, it’s now a playground for fun, food, and adventure. I’m proud of the progress Ibadan has made. Ibadan has moved from being a really calm, conservative and dirty city, to a lively, youthful and clean city. Young people now choose Ibadan for fun, not just affordability. I can say that whenever you visit Ibadan, you can have so much fun and still keep your account balance smiling. Ibadan lets you party, explore, and eat well without your wallet crying. Fun and affordability go hand in hand. Ibadan used to be known for quiet streets and early nights. Today, that story is changing. From quiet evenings to buzzing weekends. What was once a traditional city has now transformed, as Ibadan now offers different entertainment options that show its growth and youthful energy.
How about I talk about the evolution of evening outings, concerts, and the weekend vibes. Concerts like Davido 5IVE ALIVE TOUR, which was a major concert at the Liberty Stadium, in November 2025, Bella Shmurda (Tension Rave) held at the Ibadan Polo Club, Eleyele on January,2026, Beautiful Nubia held a live concert show on December 20, 2025.

Lately, you can live a comfortable life in Ibadan without much stress, as it is very affordable compared to other places in the country, where it feels like you need to break the bank just to have fun. On December 18, 2025, Oyo state government officially opened a very beautiful park, popularly known as Omololu Olunloyo park. Omololu Olunloyo park is located at the Ibadan Airport Junction, Alakia. This park was developed as part of Oyo State government’s initiative to boost tourism and economic development in the area. The entry fee to the park is N10,000. This N10,000 covers the ticket and you can also use it to buy food at their restaurant when you enter, isn’t this amazing? I had no idea this beautiful park was here until a friend fresh from the USA dragged me along and, it was worth it! I was surprised and started questioning how someone living abroad could know about such a beautiful place, while I, who always call myself an Ibadan babe, had no idea that such a park even exists in Ibadan. This park even has a spot where you can dive into Ibadan’s history and try your hand at making tie and dye, popularly known as Adire.

Also, if you love sports and are thinking of moving to our city, here’s some good news, you can easily register at sports centers like, Ibadan Tennis Club (ITC), The Golf Club Ibadan, Ibadan Polo Club, PadleUp Ibadan, Ibadan Recreation Club and start enjoying your game right away.
Aside from the fact that Ibadan has improved in its entertainment scene, with the rise of modern leisure spots, social activities, and lifestyle experiences that were once limited to bigger cities, Ibadan has maintained its calmness, there is little or no traffic jam, there are affordable houses for rent (for those who plan on moving to Ibadan), affordable hotels and short let apartments (for those who plan to visit/tour Ibadan) ; all of these are in calm and Government Reserved Areas(GRA).
Oh, one more thing before I wrap up, lovers of Amala, listen up. Ibadan has plenty of Amala spots you definitely don’t want to miss. Amala spots like, Abula Palace and Amala Oluyole. If you didn’t know, consider this your heads-up.
So, with these few points, I hope I’ve been able to convince you and not confuse you about your decision to visit or move to the city of Ibadan, formerly known as the Brown Roof City.
