Beyond Rejection
Dear Applicant,
After careful review of all candidates’ performance, we regret to inform you that you were not selected to progress to the next stage….
Most of us have been at this stage at some point, spending hours of your time preparing for and attending an interview, getting your hopes up because the interview went well and after a few days, you receive a rejection mail. Your heart sinks, you had probably imagined yourself resuming the role and now your imagination will remain as it was, an imagination.
You console yourself with the fact that at least now you know where you stand, as most recruiters don’t even bother to send that rejection mail, they just ghost you and you are left wondering. Like Winston S. Churchill said 'Success is stumbling from failure to failure with no loss of enthusiasm’ so don’t let that rejection affect your performance going forward.
In the face of rejection, your skills haven't changed. Your experience hasn't vanished. The only thing at risk is your enthusiasm. It is quite understandable to feel less enthusiastic about the next interview especially after multiple setbacks but it is important to not allow those setbacks define your path forward. Don’t let a temporary setback dim your light for the next opportunity, who knows maybe that next one would be the one. Just so you know, Victory is sweet, but it is the struggle that makes it a story worth telling.
