AMVCA (Africa Magic Viewer’s Choice Awards) is hosting its 12th edition of the awards in May 2026, Lagos, Nigeria. AMVCA celebrates the best African films, TV shows and actors. It is an award show whereby movie producers submit their movies for nominations, then the general public vote which ones they feel is deserving of being awarded. AMVCA usually includes the red carpet show where African actors/celebrities are interviewed briefly.

The 2025 AMVCA show was held on May 10, 2025, at Eko Hotel & Suites in Lagos, Nigeria.
“Freedom Way” won the best movie. Femi Adebayo won the best lead actor for his movie “Seven Doors”.

Chioma Chukwuka won the best lead actress also for the movie “Seven Doors”.
Meanwhile the 2025 AMVCA best supporting actor was Gabriel Afolayan for the movie “Inside Life”, and the best supporting actress was Mercy Aigbe for the movie “Farmer’s Bride”.
“Lisabi” also won the best indigenous language film. There were other categories such as Technical and Creative awards, Indigenous Language Film Winners from Regions.
Nkem Owoh and Sani Mu’azu both won the Lifetime Achievement Awards. Meanwhile, the trailblazer award was awarded to Kayode Kasum.
However, the essence of the AMVCA is to celebrate African Film and Excellence.
Watch out for the 12th edition coming up in MAY 2026, as submission of movies/projects already ended in January 2026.
