How To Appear Dangerously Overeducated
Everyone loves associating with smart people – at least people who appear to be so. From companies, to organizations and associations looking for representatives, ambassadors and frontline interactors, sounding smart and over-educated has become essential criteria for standing in such position. So, take a look at how you're going to become dangerously overeducated.
#1. Question everything.
Inquire about anything you see. When you see a news headline, a data point, or a statistic, look into that. Try to find out where that comes from. Take that extra step to learn about anything that you might just see or hear. And instead of just taking it for face value – really dive into it.
#2. Always carry a book on you.
Carrying a notebook everywhere makes you start observing things most people ignore. You’ll most times have something to note about every conversation. It can help you understand systems that you find it difficult to grasp. With this habit, your mind will be harder to control, harder to deceive, and impossible to keep average.
#3. Listen more than you speak.
You can't learn if you're always talking. To learn words, or phrases, in another language, listen to like 15-20 minute YouTube videos of conversations in a different language once you get the basics down. Also, always have a notepad on you so that you can jot down things that you take in from the world around you, things that you're interested in, things that you're curious about, and always write down words that you don't know that you read or hear and then look them up later.
#4. Study world history, and politics
Challenge yourself to objectively study different political structures existing in different countries. Take the time to learn about different cultures in the world. If you're not in a place where you can travel the world, learn about other country’s etiquettes, religions, food, their social norms, and what their ways of life are. It is good and important to expand your mind to these kinds of things and understand that the way you live your life is not the same all over the world.
#5. Challenge yourself to think critically.
You can do this in a number of different ways. You can do like the classic critical thinking games, play Sudoku, or chess . Just anything that requires thinking outside of the box and planning multiple steps ahead. Or just in your day-to-day life, challenging yourself to work within boundaries and restraints. This could be with time, with ingredients, with a certain number of resources, working within a budget. Give yourself parameters because this will force you to be creative. Learn to work with what you have, which is an incredible life skill. Stay hot and stay smart.
I hope this helped you in a way!
