After Graduation?
Leaving university feels like stepping off a moving train without a map,
One day, you’re a student. You have a timetable, deadlines, and a clear label for who you are. The next day, that structure disappears, and suddenly everyone expects you to “have it figured out.” career. Purpose. Five-year plan. All of it. so whats your plan? every keeps asking that!
I remember how confusing that stage felt. Most of us didn’t even choose our courses with full clarity, Sometimes it was what our grades allowed.
Sometimes it was advice from parents, teachers, friends ,uncles and aunties And then we were told, “Don’t worry, you can work anywhere.” 😅
That sentence sounds comforting, but it’s also incredibly vague when you’re the one standing at the edge of real life.
So if you’re leaving school right now and feeling unsure, let me say this clearly: you’re not behind. You’re not doing life wrong.
Very few people leave university with a crystal-clear idea of what they want to do. And even those who do often change their minds later. Life has a funny, almost stubborn way of nudging you toward where you actually belong through detours, mistakes, boredom, and small wins you didn’t plan for.
And if you do already have an idea? That’s beautiful. Truly. Follow it with bravery. Follow it with curiosity. Follow it with happiness, not fear. Let yourself grow inside that path instead of shrinking to fit expectations.
The point isn’t to have everything sorted at 21 or 22. The point is to keep moving, learning, and listening—to yourself most of all.
So don’t panic. You’re allowed to figure things out as you go. Most of us did. And somehow, step by step, we’re still becoming.
